Breast health starts with ladies knowing and what's normal, what is not normal, and when to call your physician. The SOMC Breast Center team can help you manage your breast health and diagnose breast issues you may be experiencing. To schedule an annual mammogram, contact us at 740-356-8128. We offer extended hours to best meet your needs and strive to make the exams as comfortable as possible.
Annual mammograms are recommended for women age 40 and older. Women at increased risk of breast cancer may qualify for a mammogram at a younger age and/or additional tests. Women are encouraged to discuss their risk with a healthcare provider.
The SOMC Breast Center is located in the lower level of the SOMC Cancer Center. The center is accredited through the ACR (American College of Radiology) and has been awarded the unique distinction of BICOE (Breast Imaging Center of Excellence) by ACR. Mammograms are also available at the West Union Family Health Center.
The SOMC Breast Center offers:
- Fellowship trained breast Imaging radiologist specialist
- Full digital Mammography with 3D tomosynthesis
- Breast ultrasound
- Breast MRI
- 3D Affirm Stereotactic Breast Biopsy unit/Brevera specimen unit
- Ultrasound breast biopsy
- MRI breast biopsy
The SOMC Breast Center also offers a High-Risk Breast Clinic. This clinic is a highly specialized clinic for patients at high risk for breast cancer. The clinic offers individualized screenings to assist in early detection of breast cancer. The High-Risk Breast Clinic also offers genetic counseling and accepts new patients.
Do you qualify as high risk?
- Strong family history of breast cancer
- First-degree family member with history of breast cancer (mother, full sibling, daughter)
- Breast cancer gene mutation or other gene mutation
- First-degree relative of BRCA carrier, but untested
- Personal history of invasive breast cancer
- Chest radiation between the ages of 10 – 30 years
