Request an Appointment
Explore the convenient ways to request or reschedule an appointment at Southern Ohio Medical Center (SOMC) or one of our clinics.
Primary Care Appointments
When you have a new health concern that’s not an emergency, see a primary care provider. This provider is an expert in many medical conditions and will order tests or refer you to a specialist if needed. To request your first appointment, you can:
- Call our hotline at 740-356-CARE (2273) for help finding a nearby provider who’s taking new patients
- Call a primary care location, such as an SOMC Family Practice or SOMC Family Health Center, and ask to make a new-patient appointment
After your first visit, you can schedule appointments online in our patient portal.
Tests & Specialty Care Appointments
You’ll need a primary care provider’s referral to get a medical test and sometimes to see a specialist. (A specialist focuses on a certain type of health condition or part of the body, such as the heart or lungs.) Usually, your primary care provider will send the referral electronically to a lab, imaging facility, or specialist’s office. If the facility requires an appointment, they’ll call you to schedule it.
If you need to reschedule your appointment, you can either:
- Call the location where your appointment will take place
- Contact Central Scheduling, which handles imaging and hospital appointments, at (740) 356–8128 or online
- Log into the patient portal
