    SOMC is committed to protecting the privacy and accuracy of confidential information to the extent possible, subject to provisions of state and federal laws. Procedure: SOMC’s Information Technology (IT) resources are provided solely for the conduct of SOMC’s business. All information produced by, stored on, and transmitted through SOMC’s IT resources is the property of SOMC.

    Users of SOMC’s IT resources shall have no expectation of privacy with regards to their use of such resources. SOMC has the ability to monitor, record, or trace any activity on these systems, with or without notification. SOMC may use any tools, automated or manual, deemed appropriate to accomplish this monitoring. Users should never consider any electronic communications to be secure unless encrypted.

    When using SOMC’s IT resources to send and receive correspondence, exchange, store and/or process information, or utilize resources available on the Internet, all users hereby waive their right to privacy with regards to their use of such resources. Electronic and other technological methods should not be used to infringe upon privacy. Just as SOMC promotes the ‘need to know’ principle for data sharing, SOMC advocates the ‘need to know’ principle for monitoring and/or intercepting electronic communications as well.

    If you are asked to do something you feel might go ‘beyond’ this principle, contact your manager, director, vice president, or the Compliance department. All non-public personal information (NPPI) and personally identifiable information (PII) received or maintained shall be treated as Confidential and handled in accordance with SOMC’s Data Classification Policy and applicable state and federal laws. Privacy will be preserved to the greatest extent possible. When personal information is supplied to SOMC, SOMC has the legal obligation towards the employee and or customers to ensure that this information is kept private and is secured.
